About
This site tracks the ongoing development of PSICAT, the Paleontological Stratigraphic Interval Construction and Analysis Tool. PSICAT is a stand-alone Java based graphical editing tool for creating and viewing core description and stratigraphic column diagrams. It is customized to the task of working with stratigraphic columns and captures data digitally as you draw and edit the diagram. PSICAT has been used for core description all over the world, including over 2.5km of Antarctic core as part of the ANDRILL McMurdo Ice Shelf (MIS) and Southern McMurdo Sound (SMS) projects. Current work is focused on fixing bugs and addressing feedback to make PSICAT a more widely useful tool to the geoscientific community.
